Program Director
Position Summary
The New York State Community Action Association (NYSCAA) is seeking a full-time Program Director to partner with the Chief Executive Officer and team in planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality training and technical assistance for Community Action Agencies across New York State. This role drives day-to-day program operations, stewards grant deliverables and compliance, and strengthens the statewide network through effective events, practical resources, and stakeholder engagement.
Position Details
- Status: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), Monday–Friday
- Compensation: $65,000–$70,000 annually
- Benefits: Eligible for NYSCAA benefits
- Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
- Travel: Occasional in-state travel may be required
Key Responsibilities
- Training & Events
- Develop and deliver engaging training content for in-person and virtual audiences.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute regional trainings, webinars, and special events end-to-end (agenda, logistics, speakers, materials, and post-event follow-up).
- Identify, contract, and support expert trainers and presenters.
Grants & Compliance
- Oversee program reporting, data collection, and documentation to meet federal, state, and local grant requirements.
- Monitor timelines, milestones, and budgets to ensure deliverables are met on time and within scope.
- Support grant development, submission, monitoring, and closeout; represent NYSCAA in grantor meetings and webinars as needed.
Member & Partner Engagement
- Facilitate resource sharing and communication among member agencies; maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.
- Gather feedback and needs from the Network to inform training priorities and resource development.
Operations & Continuous Improvement
- Track key performance indicators (e.g., participation, satisfaction, outcomes) and recommend improvements.
- Contribute to organizational projects and perform other duties as assigned.
QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor’s degree in human services, social work, public administration, education, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in nonprofit grant management, contract administration, or regulatory compliance.
- Working knowledge of state and federal grant guidelines and allowable uses.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including facilitation and presentation abilities.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and video-conferencing platforms.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Experience designing and delivering adult-learning content (in-person and virtual).
- Familiarity with New York’s Community Action Network and/or anti-poverty programs.
